At our Akron, OH location we are searching for a:

Materials Planner and Customer Service Coordinator

Your tasks:

  • Ensures that all required components and raw materials are available to meet production plan.
  • Ensures on-time delivery to customers, inventory accuracy, accurate production planning to meet customer requirements and inventory targets.
  • Reviews exception messages daily and processes and expedites accordingly.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing shipments with transportation providers and freight forwarder.
  • Checks on availability of containers.
  • Ensures accurate releases are sent to suppliers on regular basis.
  • Ensures inventory levels to meet targets as well as accuracy of components and raw materials through cycle counting and appropriate investigation. Balances inventory levels to meet production requirements while minimizing inventory. Troubleshoots inventory discrepancies.
  • Reviews and analyzes MRP results for plausibility.
  • Ensures releases are sent to suppliers on a timely basis.
  • Expedites material from suppliers as required.
  • Minimizes/eliminates need for premium freight.
  • Ensures excellent communication with production in the event of supply problems.
  • Monitor, download & review EDI daily from all customers.
  • Correct any IDOC errors from EDI. Correct any KUEM issues as well.
  • Works closely with both Vendors and Customers as a Customer Service Representative to ensure all relevant issues are solved. Expectations are 24/7 availability by cell phone to answer calls during off shifts.
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements (CSR) necessary through advanced training, or work experience or a combination of the two.
  • Communicates potential delivery discrepancies with appropriate personnel to meet customer requirements, balancing the needs of mold changes, inventory targets, and personnel availability. Also works closely with the warehouse supervisor to ensure all customer shipping requirements are met on a daily basis.
  • Maintains and manages short term shortage potentials through daily reporting. Drives all activities to ensure customer delivery requirements are maintained.
  • Issues ‘Open Orders List’ to production & maintains SAP graphical planning table daily. Maintains and manages weekly backlog reporting. Follows up to ensure open items are completed.
  • Maintains working knowledge of customer portals and maintains as required by Customer requirements.
  • Calculates optimal lot sizes on a quarterly basis.
  • Plans service part production requirements on a daily basis.
  • Maintains SAP Master Data on a daily basis.
  • Completes any other tasks as deemed necessary by the company

This is applicable to the departments of development, production, management, logistics, and aftermarket services, as well as to contact with customers and suppliers. Managers and supervisors are also responsible for the quality of his/her team's performance and how said performance impacts the environment, safety, and data security.
  • This principle of comprehensive quality management is developed and furthered through training (on the job), continuing/ extended education, as well as continued supply of information and updates, and should be exemplified by supervisors on every level.

Job requirements:

  • 5+ years in both material and production planning, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with SAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
