Susta Extrusion Operator

Where we need you

Under the direction of the Sustaplast Production Manager supports department efforts to assure continuous operation of product manufacturing by performing the following duties personally or through department production employees. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Understand all aspects and operating parameters of the extruders
  • Understand the water system, dryers and loaders
  • Extruder set-up/tear-down
  • Prepare and install all dies and spreader blocks
  • Prepare all resin mixes
  • Start-up and Shut-Down of all rod and plate extruders
  • Clean hoppers, dies, extruders, ovens, saws and other equipment
  • Accurately complete all reporting paperwork
  • Follow all safety rules, regulations and procedures
  • Identify, measure, and label acceptable finished product
  • Produce finished product within specification

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Valid driver’s license
  • The employee is required to be able to operate a forklift, scales, and department production equipment
