Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator

Where we need you

The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator manages the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment while maintaining accurate inventory levels to support production schedules.

The items listed below are good representative of the responsibilities required, but other may be assigned as necessary.

  • Purchasing & Procurement: Research suppliers, negotiate contracts, and issue purchase orders (POs) based on production needs.
  • Inventory Control: In coordination with the warehouse supervisor, monitor stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and reconcile inventory discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
  • Production Support: Coordinate with manufacturing departments to determine material requirements and ensure materials are available to meet production schedules. Update inventory databases, including SKU creation and management. Reinforce the production teams with workflow support as needed.
  • Vendor Management: Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, quality issues, pricing, and delivery timelines.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Analyze inventory data for trends, prepare inventory reports, and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred for follow on roles and responsibility.
  • Strong computer skill sets, including proficiency and experience with MRP/ERP system functions, strong Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Inventory Control: Knowledge of inventory principles like FIFO (First-In, First-Out), JIT (Just-In-Time), and cycle counting procedures is critical.
  • Experience with multiple Continuous Improvement disciplines such as Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma to improve production processes and efficiency
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to project a positive, professional image and drive associate engagement
  • Excellent decision-making skills to maximize the organization’s and individual’s effectiveness
