Where we need you

The Polymer Engineer is responsible for monitoring the daily intake of raw materials, ensuring proper testing and subsequent formulation to meet design specifications for repeatable part quality. This position requires hands-on support of all operations in an industrial laboratory as well as engineering analysis of materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure stability of quality systems related to incoming raw materials and pre-production processes.
  • Will support the development of a test lab.
  • Certify all incoming polymers to specifications using existing in-house test capabilities creating new tests as needed.
  • Analyze quality test data to ensure production of quality products.
  • Make changes within current formula ranges to optimize performance and cost.
  • Identify materials and process improvements to better the production and quality of manufacture.
  • Lead testing for new vendor products to ensure specifications are met.
  • Analyze raw materials, intermediate materials, investigations, and product development.
  • Develop new or improve upon existing in-house polymer characterization capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in polymer sciences: engineering and/or chemistry.
  • 3+ years prior laboratory experience
  • Experience in plastic testing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of defined Test Methods, such as ASTM, DIN/ISO
  • Working knowledge of plastic testing equipment
  • Working knowledge of safe laboratory practices
